Depart the US.
Day One//September 2:
Arrive in Porto, Portugal, by midday. Transfer to our hotel in the city center and meet the group. Spend the afternoon exploring Porto, its magnificent waterfront, or the famous Livraria Lello Bookstore. We'll visit the Sé do Porto Cathedral together to see stunning blue-tile murals and collect our Camino passports. Then we'll enjoy an early dinner at one of our favorite spots and head to bed for a restful night.

Day Two//September 3:
After breakfast, we will head out on a food walking tour with a local guide and discover little-known gems of the city. In the afternoon, we'll head to a ceramics studio to try our own hand at creating a traditional blue tile. Our evening will be spent at the oldest Fado house in Porto, enjoying a Portuguese meal and music.

Day Three//September 4:
After breakfast, we'll depart for O Refugio, a farm and retreat center in the Vinho Verde wine region of Portugal. We'll get settled into our comfortable accommodations, meet our host, and enjoy dinner together.
Day Four//September 5:
Today, we'll have the opportunity to pause, slow down, and embrace a simpler way of living. Marta, the retreat director, will guide us through sessions of Lectio Divina and other contemplative practices. We'll also take a community walk, create journals, and participate in an art class—each offering a chance to connect with the beauty around us. If the weather allows, we’ll end the day with stargazing and a bonfire after dinner. The meals at O Refúgio will be vegetarian, featuring fresh, organic produce from the garden and the local community.

Day Five//September 6:
We'll conclude our time at the retreat center after breakfast, then drive north to the small border town of Valenca, Portugal, stopping at a family-owned winery along the way for a farm-to-table lunch and wine tasting. We'll enjoy the ancient walled city of Valenca, before crossing the river and taking a short walk into Spain. We'll check in at the traditional Parador, enjoy dinner together, and head to bed as we prepare for our first day on the Camino.

Day Six//September 7:
It's the first morning on the Camino! After breakfast, we'll hand our luggage to the porter and begin our pilgrimage. Today's walk will take us through a beautiful forested area as we head north to O Porriño. Discover a quaint cafe along the way, offering a Pilgrim's Lunch, usually consisting of soup, freshly baked bread, and a glass of wine. Walk with friends from the group, meet new friends on a similar journey, or walk alone in solitude. Arrive in O Porriño in the early afternoon. Check in at our next lodging, rest, and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. We will have a group dinner, listening as friends share their memorable moments and discoveries.

Over the next six days, we’ll follow a gentle rhythm as we make our way north, walking in the footsteps of 12th-century pilgrims bound for Santiago de Compostela. Each day brings something new—collecting stamps in our pilgrim passports, passing through small villages, exploring historic sites, and meandering through quiet forests. Along the way, there will be space for meaningful conversation, moments of personal clarity, and a deep sense of communion with the Creator as you journey this sacred path.

Today marks our final walk north to Santiago de Compostela—a moment filled with anticipation and well-earned joy. As we catch our first glimpse of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, a deep sense of accomplishment gives way to celebration. We’ll collect our official Compostela at the Pilgrim’s Reception Office, pause for a group photo, and then settle into our comfortable accommodations just steps from the cathedral. Hot showers and a celebratory dinner will beautifully close this unforgettable journey.

After breakfast, we’ll meet a local guide for an insider tour of the cathedral, exploring its Romanesque architecture, learning how it evolved over the centuries, and admiring highlights such as the Chapel of Relics. You’ll also have the option to attend a pilgrim’s Mass inside the cathedral.With a full day in Santiago, there’s time to wander the winding streets of the old town, take in rooftop views, and reflect on all that this journey has held. In the evening, we’ll gather for a traditional Spanish dinner at one of Santiago’s culinary gems—celebrating community, shared experiences, and the memories we’ll carry home.

Day Thirteen//September 14:
After lunch, we’ll return to Porto by private shuttle for our final evening together. There will be time to relax, do some last-minute shopping, or explore on your own. We’ll gather for an early farewell dinner, giving everyone time to rest and prepare for morning departures.[B, L, D]
