Terms & Conditions

1. Contract Policy

By booking a trip with Travel on Purpose, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined here. We will accept your booking on this basis.

2. Privacy Policy

We will use any personal information we collect about you solely to operate your trip. By making this booking, you consent to us sharing this information with relevant parties, such as our service providers or suppliers, to facilitate your trip or to send you updates and information about our events.

3. Deposit Requirement Policy

To confirm your booking, we require a non-refundable deposit per person, per trip.

4. Acceptance of Booking and Final Payments Policy

We will confirm your booking by email, establishing a contract between you and us. Please refer to your booking details for payment schedule and instructions. If payments are not received by the deadlines, we reserve the right to consider your booking canceled.

5. Prices and Surcharges Policy

Our trip prices are subject to variable and seasonal pricing, a common practice in the travel industry. Prices may fluctuate based on demand, market conditions, and availability.

We reserve the right to pass along surcharges imposed on Travel on Purpose by the travel industry, including, but not limited to, changes in park fees, airline or transportation costs, local tour operator costs, or taxes.

6. Your Details  Policy

You must provide all requested travel details along with the final payment of your trip. Required details may vary depending on the trip but typically include your full name as it appears on your passport, date of birth, nationality, passport number, passport issue and expiration date, international flight information, food allergies, a liability form, and any pre-existing medical conditions.

7. Cancellation by You Policy
We strongly recommend purchasing cancellation insurance at the time of booking to protect your investment. Also, when booking your flight, choose a fare that allows cancellations or changes.

  • Deposit: Your deposit is non-refundable.

  • 120 Days or more before departure: 50% of the amount you've paid (minus the deposit) can be applied toward a future trip.

  • 90 Days or more before departure: 25% of the amount you've paid (minus the deposit) can be applied toward a future trip.

  • 60 Days or more before departure: No refund or credit of any kind.

  • NO REFUNDS: If you leave the trip after it has started, fail to join it, join after departure, or leave before completion, we will not issue refunds or credits for unused services.

    8. Cancellation or Significant Modification by Travel on Purpose

    Travel on Purpose carefully considers the safety, security, health, accessibility, and operational feasibility of every trip. While we make every reasonable effort to operate each trip as planned, circumstances may arise that require us to cancel, postpone, modify, or substitute all or part of an itinerary.

    Cancellation Before Departure: If Travel on Purpose cancels an entire trip for reasons other than a Force Majeure Event, you may choose either:

    • to transfer the amounts you have paid to another available Travel on Purpose departure; or
    • to receive a refund of amounts paid to Travel on Purpose for the canceled trip, less any amounts that are non-refundable or unrecoverable by Travel on Purpose.

    If the cancellation is due to a Force Majeure Event, the options described under Cancellation Due to Force Majeure below will apply.

    Cancellation or Removal of a Portion of a Trip: For multi-country or multi-destination itineraries, Travel on Purpose may determine that one destination, activity, transportation segment, accommodation, or other portion of a trip cannot safely or reasonably operate while the remainder of the trip can proceed.

    In such circumstances, we may:

    • remove or cancel the affected portion of the itinerary;
    • substitute another destination, activity, accommodation, transportation method, or experience;
    • adjust the sequence or duration of the itinerary;
    • replace the affected portion with an alternative experience of reasonably comparable value; or
    • cancel the entire trip if the affected portion is essential to the overall operation of the trip.

    When reasonably possible, we will provide advance notice and work with our local partners to develop the best available alternative.

    If a portion of the trip is canceled and cannot reasonably be replaced, Travel on Purpose may provide a credit or refund for the affected land services, less any unrecoverable costs already incurred on your behalf.

    Health, Safety, Government Advisories, and Destination Conditions: Travel on Purpose may cancel, postpone, modify, substitute, or discontinue all or part of a trip when, in our reasonable judgment, conditions at a destination create a significant health, safety, security, legal, transportation, or operational concern.

    Such circumstances may include, but are not limited to:

    • epidemics, pandemics, disease outbreaks, or other public health emergencies;
    • government travel advisories or changes in travel warnings;
    • government restrictions, entry requirements, border closures, quarantines, or other official measures;
    • war, terrorism, civil unrest, political instability, or significant security concerns;
    • natural disasters, extreme weather, or environmental conditions;
    • transportation disruptions or the loss of essential transportation;
    • the inability of local suppliers or partners to safely or reasonably provide contracted services; or
    • other circumstances that, in our reasonable judgment, make the planned itinerary unsafe, impractical, or materially infeasible.

    Travel on Purpose does not require a government prohibition on travel to make a safety-related decision. We may consider information from government authorities, local partners, medical or public-health authorities, transportation providers, and other reliable sources when determining whether a trip can reasonably proceed.

    Cancellation Due to Force Majeure: A Force Majeure Event means an event or circumstance beyond the reasonable control of Travel on Purpose that materially prevents, restricts, or makes unsafe or impractical the operation of all or part of a trip. Force Majeure Events may include, but are not limited to, natural disasters, extreme weather, acts of God, war, terrorism, riots, civil unrest, epidemics, pandemics, disease outbreaks, government actions or restrictions, border closures, transportation disruptions, and other unforeseeable events beyond our reasonable control.

    If a trip is canceled or materially modified because of a Force Majeure Event:

    Before the trip begins:
    Travel on Purpose may offer one or more of the following options, depending on the circumstances and the amounts recoverable from our suppliers:

    • transfer amounts paid to a future Travel on Purpose trip;
    • receive a credit toward a future Travel on Purpose trip; or
    • receive a refund of amounts paid to Travel on Purpose for affected services, less deposits, payments, or other costs that are non-refundable or unrecoverable.

    If only part of the trip is affected:
    Travel on Purpose may operate the unaffected portions of the itinerary and, where reasonably possible, provide an alternative itinerary. Any credit or refund will be determined based on the affected portion of the trip and the amounts Travel on Purpose can recover.

    Alternative Itineraries and Destination Substitutions

    When circumstances require a change, Travel on Purpose may offer an alternative destination, route, activity, accommodation, or itinerary. Travelers who accept an alternative itinerary acknowledge that the replacement may differ from the original itinerary in accommodations, activities, transportation, duration, or destination.

    We will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative that preserves the overall character and purpose of the trip, but we cannot guarantee that a substitute will be identical or of equal monetary value to the original itinerary.

    Unrecoverable Costs and Independent Travel Arrangements

    Travel on Purpose will make reasonable efforts to recover funds from airlines, hotels, local operators, transportation companies, and other suppliers when a trip or portion of a trip is canceled or changed. However, we cannot guarantee that suppliers will provide refunds or credits.

    You acknowledge that some amounts paid by Travel on Purpose on your behalf may be non-refundable or subject to supplier cancellation policies. Any refund or credit provided by Travel on Purpose will therefore be limited to amounts that we are able to recover, unless we expressly agree otherwise.

    Travel on Purpose is not responsible for incidental or consequential expenses you incur as a result of a cancellation, postponement, or itinerary change, including but not limited to:

    • non-refundable or non-changeable international or domestic airfare;
    • airline change or cancellation fees;
    • visas or visa fees;
    • vaccinations or medical expenses;
    • travel insurance premiums or deductibles;
    • independently booked hotels, transportation, or activities;
    • lost wages or other personal expenses; or
    • any other expenses not paid directly to Travel on Purpose.

    For this reason, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with appropriate cancellation, interruption, delay, and emergency coverage.

    No Damages for Cancellation or Modification

    To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, if Travel on Purpose cancels, postpones, substitutes, or materially modifies a trip because of circumstances described in this section, neither party will be entitled to consequential, incidental, special, or punitive damages arising solely from the cancellation or modification.

    Our obligations will be limited to the refunds, credits, alternative arrangements, or other remedies expressly described in these Booking Conditions and required by applicable law.

    Credits in Lieu of Refunds

    When a credit is offered or accepted:

    • the credit does not expire unless otherwise stated in writing;
    • the credit may be applied toward any available Travel on Purpose trip, subject to availability and any applicable price difference;
    • the credit is non-transferable unless Travel on Purpose agrees otherwise in writing; and
    • the credit has no cash value and is not redeemable for cash.

    9. Booking Amendments Policy
    Transfers to another person or an alternative trip are allowed only when operationally feasible. For transfers to another person, the transferee must meet all the trip requirements. Additional fees may apply.
    No changes or amendments to your booking are permitted within 90 days of the departure date.

    10. Age & Health Requirements Policy

    • Minimum Age: The minimum age for most of our trips is 18 years old at the time of travel, but some trips are available to younger travelers. A legal guardian must accompany travelers under 18 or, if the legal guardian cannot travel, an escort over 18 appointed by the guardian. The legal guardian or appointed escort is responsible for the underage traveler's day-to-day care. If you appoint an escort, the legal guardian must complete and sign a document delegating their authority.

    • Maximum Age:  Most of our trips have no upper age limit. However, our trips can be physically demanding, and participants must ensure they are fit enough to fully participate. While we can provide information on mandatory health requirements, we are not medical professionals. You are responsible for seeking detailed medical advice at least three months before departure to meet the latest health requirements and recommendations for your destination.

    11. Waivers and Liability Forms Policy
    All participants on our trips must complete our liability form. In addition, certain trips or excursions may require additional documentation, such as a waiver, release form, or terms specific to a particular activity, transportation, or accommodation.
    Please note that participation in such activities may be denied if you do not sign the required waiver.

    If there are any inconsistencies between these Booking Conditions and the supplemental waiver, the terms of these Booking Conditions will take precedence.

    12. Passports and Visas Policy
    You are responsible for obtaining and carrying all required documentation and identification for entry, departure, and travel to each country or region on your itinerary. This includes a valid passport, visas, permits, certificates (such as vaccination or medical certificates), and any travel documents required by us or the relevant authorities.

    Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the last travel date on your itinerary. You are responsible for ensuring you meet the blank-page requirement for the country you're visiting before travel.

    You are responsible for obtaining all necessary documents, visas, and permits before the trip begins. You are solely responsible for any costs incurred due to missing, invalid, or incomplete documentation.

    Additionally, you agree to cover any loss or expense we incur as a direct result of your failure to secure or present the required travel documentation.

    13. Travel Insurance Policy
    Travel insurance is required for some of our trips. Check the trip details to understand the requirements for the trip you are signing up for. Even when travel insurance isn't required, we still strongly encourage it. Travel insurance is readily available at affordable prices. You can purchase policies online through Travel Insured International, Allianz, Trawick, Travelex, and more. Some credit card companies also include travel insurance coverage.

    • When travel insurance is required: Your insurance must cover personal accidents, illness, death, medical expenses, and emergency repatriation. We also strongly recommend that your policy includes coverage for cancellation, trip curtailment, personal liability, and loss of luggage and personal belongings. Before your trip, you must provide your travel insurance policy number and the insurance company's 24-hour emergency contact number. You will not be allowed to join the trip without these details. For travel insurance to cover pre-existing conditions, it generally must be purchased within 14 days of booking. If your travel insurance is linked to a credit card or bank account, ensure you have the insurer’s name, policy number, and emergency contact information, as the bank or card details alone are insufficient.

    • When travel insurance is not required: You will be required to sign an Insurance Waiver Form acknowledging that you assume all responsibility for personal accidents, illness, death, medical expenses, emergency repatriation, trip cancellation, trip curtailment, personal liability, loss of luggage and personal belongings.

    14. Change of Itinerary Policy
    This type of travel requires flexibility, and you should be prepared for possible changes. The provided itinerary reflects the planned activities, but routes, schedules, itineraries, amenities, and transportation methods may change without prior notice due to local circumstances or events.
    While we aim to operate trips as described, we reserve the right to modify the itinerary.

    • Before Departure:  If we make a major change to your trip, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible, if time permits before departure. A "major change" is defined as one that affects at least one day in five of the itinerary. In the event of a major change, you may choose to: (a)Accept the change, (b) Receive a refund of money paid for the land portion of the trip only, or (c) Accept an alternative trip offered.

    • After Departure: We reserve the right to adjust the itinerary after departure due to local circumstances or a Force Majeure Event. You will be responsible for any additional costs resulting from these necessary changes.

    • Important Note: We are not responsible for incidental expenses incurred due to itinerary changes, such as visas, vaccinations, or non-refundable or non-changeable flights.

    15. Group Leadership and Conduct Policy

    A group leader leads all trips, and their decisions are final on matters affecting the safety or well-being of travelers or staff. If you fail to follow the group leader's instructions or disrupt the group's well-being or mobility, the leader may remove you from the trip immediately without a refund. Additionally, we may choose to prohibit you from participating in any future trips.

    You must comply with the laws, customs, currency regulations, and drug policies of all countries visited during the trip.

    16. Adventurous Travel and Personal Risk Policy

    By participating in this trip, you acknowledge that it may involve an element of adventure and personal risk. You may visit locations where political, cultural, and geographical factors pose greater risks and physical challenges compared to daily life.

    We rely on information from government foreign departments and local contacts to assess the safety and feasibility of the itinerary. However, you are responsible for familiarizing yourself with all relevant travel information, including health risks and the specific challenges of your itinerary.

    By deciding to travel, you confirm that you have considered this information and accept the personal risks associated with the trip. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept liability for these additional risks.

    17. Liability and Third-Party Responsibility Policy

    • Limited Liability: We are not liable to you or any other person for any loss, damage, or injury (direct, indirect, or consequential) arising from any act or omission by us, whether negligent or otherwise, in connection with the services provided or any matter relating to these Booking Conditions. This exclusion applies unless the loss or damage results directly from our fraud or willful misconduct. If the law implies a warranty into these Booking Conditions that cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to either re-supplying the services or paying the cost of re-supplying the services.

      • Indemnification: You agree to indemnify us, including our subsidiaries, employees, contractors, and agents, against any losses, claims, actions, proceedings, damages, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from: (a) your access to or use of our services (or that of your delegate), (b) any breach of these Booking Conditions or additional service terms by you (or your delegate). This indemnity does not apply where the loss or damage results directly from our fraud or willful misconduct.

      • Third-Party Suppliers:  We work with a network of third-party suppliers, including activity providers, accommodation providers, airlines, transport companies, guides, contractors, and other entities, to deliver trip services. While we take reasonable steps to select reputable suppliers, we are not responsible for their acts or omissions. Third-party suppliers may govern services with their own terms and conditions, which may include limitations or exclusions of liability. You may be required to agree to these terms. Third-party suppliers operate under the laws of their respective countries. We do not guarantee their compliance with the laws of your country of residence or any other jurisdiction. We are not responsible for disputes between you and any third party. You must resolve such matters directly with the third party involved.

      18. Optional Activities Policy
      Optional activities not included in the trip price are not part of your trip package or this contract.

      Any assistance, recommendations, or advice your group leader or local representative provides to arrange optional activities—whether before, during, or after the trip—does not make us liable for those activities in any way. The contract for any optional activity is solely between you and the activity provider.

      19. Complaints Policy

      If you have a complaint during your trip, please inform your group leader or local representative immediately so they can address the issue promptly. If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may submit a formal complaint in writing to the email address you used to book your trip. You must do this within 30 days of the trip's conclusion.

      20. Updating of Terms & Conditions Policy

      Travel on Purpose reserves the right to update and/or alter these terms and conditions at any time. You are responsible for familiarizing yourself with these terms and conditions.
